Getting help with VA claims and obtaining the benefits you've earned doesn’t have to be complicated. The Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) team of accredited National Service Officers are experts in navigating the Veterans Affairs (VA) claims process, and we are dedicated to helping you get the benefits you’ve earned in a manner that honors your service.

Learn about the different VA benefits you may be eligible for as a result of your service and get VA disability claim assistance by trusted experts.

VA Disability Compensation

VA disability compensation (pay) is a monthly, tax-free benefit paid to veterans with injuries or illnesses obtained during or aggravated by their military service. Compensation may include financial support and other VA benefits like health care.

The VA determines the benefit amount based on a number of factors, including the level and severity of a qualified disability, the existence of a spouse and/or dependents, and employability relative to the disability. VA Educational Benefits

VA Educational and training benefits help make it easier for service members and their qualified family members to transition from military to civilian life.

VA educational benefits are available to help pay for college or career training, find the right school or training program, and get career counseling. The Benefit Services team can help you apply for educational benefits. Contact our WWP Resource Center to get started.

Caregiver Benefits

Caregivers of injured veterans may qualify for a number of benefits through the VA Family Caregiver Program.

A caregiver can be a parent, spouse, child, step-family member, extended family member, or a non-family member who lives with and provides support to the veteran. The Benefits Services team can help you file for caregiver benefits under the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC). Contact our WWP Resource Center to get started.

Predischarge Claims

Service members may start receiving VA disability benefits immediately after discharge by filing a disability claim 90 to 180 days before they leave the military.

Predischarge claims may be filed by service members on full-time active duty (including members of the National Guard, Reserves, and Coast Guard) who believe that an illness or injury was caused or aggravated by active-duty service and who have a known separation date. Active-Duty Benefits

Veterans can file for compensation from the Defense Finance & Accounting System of the DoD for benefits related to injuries as a result of combat.

Combat Related Special Compensation is non-taxable, and retirees (20-year equivalent/medically retired Temporary Disability Retirement List (TDRL)/Permanent Disability Retirement List (PDRL)) are eligible to file claims with their Branch of Service for injuries sustained in combat or during simulated activities for training to prepare for combat. Even if you have filed your claim, our accredited National Service Officers can assist with making sure all illnesses or injuries were claimed and that the VA has rated your disability claim properly. Additionally, you may be able to receive assistance with increased compensation or additional claims and we can help you become more informed about the claims process to ensure you’ve received the benefits you’ve earned in a manner that honors your service.
